The Honest Scrap Award

Big thanks to Yours Truli for this Honest Scrap Award!
Here's how the Honest Scrap Award works:
- I must thank the person who gave me the award and list their blog and link it
- I must list 10 honest things about myself
- I must put a copy of The Honest Scrap Logo on my blog.
- I must select at least 7 other worthy bloggers & list their links
- I must notify the bloggers of the award and hopefully they will follow the above requirements.

Ok 10 honest things about myself. Here we go.....
1. The only things I am afraid of are clowns and mascots. You never know who's behind that makeup/furry suit. I'm not too keen on centipedes either.
2. My first car was a '85 Thunderbird named "el coche" I drove it for six years, and now I have a '93 dodge spirit which my brother sold me for five dollars. My current car doesn't have a name yet.
3. Right now I am baking carrot cake cupcakes for my mom's birthday.
4. While in high school and college I worked for several years on two separate goat farms. Have a goat that needs milking? I know how to do that. Is your goat having a baby? I can help with that too.
5. Once while working on one of the goat farms, the Alpaca escaped from its pen and I had to wrangle it.
6. I just finished student teaching in art and right now I am working as a summer school art teacher at the middle school level.
7. I have a weakness for silly 18th century gothic romance novels, like The Romance of the Forest by Anne Radcliffe. By extension I also love Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen, which sort of parodies the genre.
8. My husband and I have our 1-year anniversary coming up on Sunday. My husband is a writer but I can't tell you what he's working on. It's a secret.
9. I've had many pets in my lifetime, but right now the only animal living with me is a green parakeet named Captain Darling.
10. My favorite Batman is Adam West Batman.

Yes I do, I etch it with either ferric nitrate or nitric acid, but I'm still working the bugs out of the process so I don't do it as often as copper.

I tried doing it with ferric nitrate but the result was not clean at all. If you figure out how to do it clean, will you make a tutorial? I'll buy it really happily! :-))

It's on my list of things to do this summer. I have gotten better results with nitric acid than ferric nitrate, but I'm working on getting the dilution ratio just right. I have to get it strong enough to etch the metal but not so strong that it eats my resist.

I want to do the handwriting jewelry that I did in my casting class. I have bought the casting equipment now, but still need the space to set things up. But I am thinking, etching would be much simpler and faster than casting for this purpose. SO looking forward to your tutorial! :-))
